Canada Agriculture and Food Museum

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum is a unique working farm in the heart of Ottawa. As visitors meet the animals, explore exhibitions, and take part in hands-on demonstrations, they discover Canada’s agricultural history as well as contemporary agricultural challenges and solutions. The Museum is also host to popular events and festivals, including Baconpalooza, Sheep Shearing, and the Ice Cream Festival.

Our Adopt-a-Class program ensures that every child – regardless of background or ability – can experience the Museum. We believe every child should have the chance to discover the science of the soil beneath their feet, explore hands-on nutrition learning in the kitchen, and enjoy healthy outdoor play.

Our Farm Family program offers you the chance to symbolically adopt an animal at the Museum, with your donation helping to share the stories and science of the Herd at the Museum. Your support helps us offer school programs to underserved communities, enhance animal care, and welcome visitors to this working farm in the heart of the city.

The Museum reaches Canadians across the country with outreach initiatives. Travelling exhibitions bring fun hands-on learning from the Museum to science centres, local museums, and community organizations through fascinating artifacts, research, and interactives. Visitors across Canada and around the world can also discover unique digital Museum experiences through virtual exhibitions. Edukits and downloadable lesson plans provide the support teachers need to make agriculture and food come alive in their classrooms.
